Status of Shōnan Jun’ai Gumi

Sanzoku Densetsu (Avatar)Hey guys. As I’m sure all you avid Shōnan Jun’ai Gumi fans are long aware of, February has ended and our promised release is no where to be seen. Basically our half of the work was done quite a while ago, however Might Gaine at PDSG has had almost no time to work on his due to study and real life in general. In January he told me he’d most likely have ep 5 all done by the end of February but he just hasn’t been able to. I’ve been talking to him and we’re going to try a different approach where we finish the release off ourselves. All the necessary files need to be sent to us first, but once we have everything in our hands I can promise you all a speedy release.

More updates to come and thank you all for your patience!

To all of you, I say don’t hold your breath. The episode is basically an earlier version of the “Great Teacher Onizuka” episodes 25-26 where he meets Nao Kadena and challenges her to a street race. Personally, I like the GTO version better.

  13. sanzokudensetsu says:

Shonan Jun’ai Gumi is really where the Kadena arc belongs though. Studio Pierrot pretty much stole the idea to create a couple of filler eps for GTO. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion but I enjoyed the the SJG version more simply because it’s much closer to what happens in the manga. If you want to experience the arc properly though, I highly recommend that you read the manga as even though it’s closer to it than the GTO interpretation, quite a lot is still cut out and jumbled up in the OVA. That said I still think it was one of the best OVAs done.

    My dear friends at Sentosha

I believe that I speak on behalf of all the fans of Shonan Junai Gumi that we the gratitude we bear to you is so immense word are incapable of doing it justice.

However, for the past couple of weeks, possibly months, my sense of the passage of time isn’t so precise, not a single mention whatsoever has been made of the status of the final OVA and while I am in no way wishing to rush you or make any demands, if I could make a suggestion, perhaps you could release a statement that gives us an indication of when this very much awaited release may occur, or some form of status report would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your consideration

    Bishca
